Here’s a great recipe especially when the weather starts getting chilly.  Taken from the GUINNESS Storehouse Restaurant at St. James Gate, Dublin.

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs. Cubed Beef
  • 1 large Onion Diced
  • 1 Package of Celery diced
  • 1 Leek Diced
  • 1 small bag carrots diced
  • 2 tbsp. Gravy Master
  • Pinch of Mixed Herbs (Savory Herbs)
  • 1/4 lb. butter
  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 2 Large Cans Beef Stock
  • Salt & Pepper to Taste
  • 1/2 Pint GUINNESS Beer

Method:

  1. Sweat all vegetables in the butter for 5-6 minutes.
  2. Add diced Beef and cook for 5-6 minutes.
  3. Add herbs and then flour stirring until beef is coated.
  4. Add beef stock slowly while stirring.  Cook for another 5-6 minutes
  5. Add Gravy Master.
  6. Slow cook for 1-1/2 to 2 hours.
  7. Finish with 1/2 Pint GUINNESS beer and stir.

Serve with mashed potatoes.  Serves 8-10.

best part about this is that there’s 1/2 pint of GUINNESS left for the cook! Also tastes great with GUINNESS bread
